P1-4 Castlewellan Forest Adventure

5th Jun 2025

Today our P1-P4 pupils enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Castlewellan forest park. The day was filled with fun outdoor activities, as the children explored nature and got creative with what they found in the wild.

One of the main highlights of the trip was the minibeast hunt. Armed with magnifying glasses and nets, the children eagerly searched under logs, in the grass, and among the leaves to find tiny creatures such as beetles, worms, spiders, and ladybirds. They learned how to identify different minibeasts and talked about their habitats. It was a great opportunity for hands-on science and lots of curiosity!

They also took part in a forest art activity. Using leaves, twigs, pine cones, and other natural materials, they created beautiful pieces of artwork based on the sights in the park. The creativity on display was fantastic, and everyone enjoyed working together and using their imaginations.

The trip was not only fun but also a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn more about the world around us. A big thank you to all the staff and Ben who provided all the activities and resources.
